Learning is the basis on which we exist, we grow to excel in life. Learning is the quintessential part of our life, much the same as nourishment supports our bodies, continuous learning feeds our brains. Deep-rooted and life-long learning is an irreplaceable mechanism for every one of us to be successful in our professional and personal life.

To know our learning preference / style / method, the researchers have built up various distinctive Learning Styles & models to perceive the various ways that individuals adapt best. One well-known system, the VARK model, recognizes four essential kinds of learning preference / style: VisualAuditoryreading/writing, and kinesthetic (VARK).

We explore the Kinesthetic Learning Preference / Style / Method;

Kinesthetic Learning Style

Individuals with Kinesthetic preference / style, learn through their bodies and their sense of touch. They learn quickly and permanently what they do as they are learning. Such learners are typically very coordinated; hand-body-mind coordination.

A kinesthetic-tactile learning style requires that you handle or touch material to learn. Kinesthetic-tactile techniques are used in combination with visual and/or auditory study techniques, producing multi-sensory learning.

Learning Strategies

  • Use all the manipulative study strategies you can think of, for example:
    • Write
    • Make visuals (concept maps, timelines, charts, graphs
    • Make models
    • Use your fingers (e.g. for counting off items you are reviewing)
    • Prepare/use index cards
  • Use the movement of your body to increase attention to your study, for example:
  • Study in a rocking chair
  • Pace – watch out for the speed of learning
  • Tap your foot or pencil
  • Look for participation activities (Group activities) with other students to enhance your learning.
